Chile

Savour the delectable cuisine or take to the rainforest for a sightseeing adventure.

When to visit

A country with so much to see and do all throughout the year, Chile is at its peak and absolutely blooming between the months of November and March - summer in the southern hemisphere. If you are considering this time of year, hotels and other amenities (tours, events) are likely to be at full or near-full capacity so do book early!  This is not to say that you shouldn’t pop over at other times of the year, but if you are a go-getter who wants to experience the full vibrancy of Chile, then summer is the time to come.  For those who prefer cooler, more temperate temperatures, you can still travel to Chile and take advantage of what spring offers in this beautiful Central American country.

Where to visit

Chile offers everything you could imagine for a superb vacation experience. From Bahia Ingesa, a pretty seaside resort in the northern region, to the Atacama Desert also in the north, which in itself offers variety as its vast 1000km space contains oases, rock art and remnants of a nitrate ghost town. The Nevado Tres Cruces National Park contains Chile’s highest peak, Ojos del Salado, combined with the unparalleled balance of two high-altitude lagoons and is a must-see. And there’s so much more to do and see.

What to eat

South and Central American countries are known for their fantastic food and Chile certainly represents itself well. Are you a die-hard seafood fan? Well, Chile is definitely the place for you to combine your sight-seeing with pleasing your gastronomical side, as it is certainly known for the variety of seafood it offers.

From very spicy to moderate, from rich foods to those more gentle to the palate, a trip to Chile would be incomplete without a taste of its culimary delights. Look out for Curanto en Hoyo, one of the national dishes!

What to do

Whatever you like to do, Chile can meet your need for a personalized vacation. Does the rugged outdoors appeal to you? Then you and your friends or family can arrange a hike through one of the phenomenal stretches of Chile’s terrain. Whether your preference is for rainforests or mountainous adrenalin-pumping tours it’s all there at your fingertips (or footsteps in this case).  A highlight of summer is the Carnaval de Valparaiso which is held towards the end of December. This cultural festival, which is government sponsored takes place in the cultural mecca of Chile, Valparaiso, through to New Year’s Eve, where thousands of excited visitors like yourself convene on the Bay for a mind-blowing fireworks display. The Carnaval incorporates live music, theatre, cinema and a pot-pourri of activities to cater to your every desire.  Apart from the expansive list of festivals and events throughout the year, there is so much more to this dynamo of a country: shopping, biking, visiting exclusive vineyards, bar-hopping, bird-watching. You name it, you can do it in Chile.
