Food and drink

The cuisine of Brazil varies from city to city but one thing you are sure to taste is the fusion of tropical fruits into their dishes. Given the settlement of the Portuguese, French and German within Brazil, these cultures have also heavily influenced the cuisine of this country. Whilst in Brazil you are sure to encounter churrasco, which is delectably barbecued meat and cachaça a distilled spirit made from sugar cane juice. Other popular dishes among the locals include, Vatapa which is a spicy mixture of bread, shrimp, red pepper and other ingredients and Monqueca which is a slowly cooked seafood stew. When to visit

Given its tropical climate, Brazil is an all year round destination. During the month of February, Brazil’s summer, you can witness the parade of colour at the country’s finest carnival, the Rio Carnival. For the ultimate in speed, a trip during the months of March and April allows you to see the Brazilian Grand Prix in Sao Paulo. For the food enthusiast who wishes to taste the culture of Brazil, the months of April and May see the finest Brazil has to offer on display at Comida di Buteco, its renowned food festival.
