Then switch gears and head to Little India, featuring -- you guessed it -- the Indian side of life in diverse Singapore. At the end of the day, head up near the top of one of Singapore’s many skyscrapers for a cocktail and a fabulous city view.

Just wander the outdoor markets and “hawker” stalls and you’ll be sure to run into a number of local delights. Singapore features some of the best -- and often fanciest -- cuisine the world has to offer, so suffice it to say it’s a foodie’s delight. Famous dishes include the national dish of “chicken rice,” a plain yet flavorful dish that sounds just like its name, as well as wontons, rice noodle stir fry, chili crab, and sambal -- chili paste, shrimp paste and other spices -- coated on everything from seafood to meat to vegetables.
